Before you come to the clinic:
You will want to schedule an appointment. Often you can schedule an appointment for the same day that you call.
Fill out the paper work. You can download and print the paper work by clicking on the Resources button found above. Complete the paper work at home and bring it with you. If you prefer, you can fill out the paper work at the clinic.
What to expect during your first visit to the clinic:
You will have a consultation with Dr. Gilstrap. At that time, he will review your medical history with you, and he will perform a chiropractic exam. An x-ray will be taken, if indicated by the previous exam.
Dr. Gilstrap will report his findings to you. At that time, he will recommend to you any treatment plan that you need to follow. If he feels chiropractic treatment is not waht you need, he will refer you to an appropriate physician.
If chropractic treatment is prescribed for you, you can begin therapy. Initially, this would be laying on an intersegmental traction table, affectionally called “the roller table”. The doctor’s findings may include other types of recommended therapy, such as: Decompression, Hydromassage Table, Diathermy, or others. To learn about the therapy equipment that we utilize, click on the “Services” tab above.
After therapy, if you elect to do it, he will do your first chiropractic adjustment. Feel free to ask questions about the procedure that he is doing.
After this initial appointment:
You will want to schedule your next appointment as indicated in the treatment plan.
You will also want to follow any home therapy exercises that Dr. Gilstrap recommends. If home exercises are required, then he will walk you through them before you leave the clinic office, and in many cases, he will send printed instructions with you for each exercise. These exercise sheets can also be found by clicking on the Therapy Tasks button found above.
